Understanding the Different Window A/C Modes

Your TCL air conditioner offers several operating modes to help you stay comfortable and conserve energy. Here's a quick guide to what each mode does and how it works:

Cooling Mode

  • The compressor and fan run until your set temperature is reached
  • Once that temperature is reached, the fan continues running to circulate air
  • To prevent the fan from running continuously, enable ECO Mode

Dry Mode (Dehumidify)

  • Designed to reduce humidity in the room
  • The compressor cycles on and off to remove moisture from the air
  • Temperature is automatically set (usually between 72–75°F) for about 3 minutes, then drops slightly
  • Manual temperature adjustment is not available in this mode

Auto Mode

  • Automatically chooses between Cool, Dry, or Fan based on room conditions
  • Behavior and temperatures are pre-programmed at the factory
  • Settings cannot be changed manually while in Auto Mode

Fan Mode

  • Only the fan runs to circulate air within the room
  • Air is pulled from inside and recirculated
  • It does not bring in air from outside, although a small amount of outdoor air may enter due to the unit not being fully sealed

ECO Mode

  • Both the compressor and fan shut off once the desired temperature is reached
  • Every 10 minutes, the fan turns on for about 20 seconds to sample the room temperature
  • If cooling is needed, the compressor automatically restarts
  • Use ECO Mode during Cooling Mode to reduce energy use and prevent continuous fan operation
