Watch sports on Google TV

You can watch live and recorded sports events, movies, and TV shows on your Google TV.

Select leagues and providers are available on Google TV Sports:

  • Leagues:
    • NFL
    • MLB
    • NBA
  • Content providers:
    • YouTube TV
    • Sling
    • Max
    • Apple TV+

Access your sports content

Use the sports page on the Google TV home screen

You can find Google TV sports features on the Sports page like:

  • Sports-leaning recommendations
  • Key highlights from YouTube
  • Shortcuts into sport providers
  • Relevant highlights and commentary
  • Sports-related free live TV

Important: Currently, you can only find the Sports page in the US.

To navigate the Sports page:

  1. On the Google TV home screen, under “For You” tab, scroll to the “What do you feel like watching?” row.
  2. Select Sports.

Tips:

  • Currently, the YouTube highlight row on the Sports page includes:
    • Soccer
    • Basketball
    • Hockey
    • Baseball
    • Football
  • To find other sports, open the YouTube app.

Let Google TV provide sports recommendations

You get personalized sports recommendations on the “On Now” rows on your “For You” and “Live” tabs.

Tip: You won’t find channel icons in the “Live sports from your services” row. You can find the channel when you open your service provider.

Where to watch games & highlights

You can find upcoming and live games in the “Selected live & upcoming games” row.

To get detailed info about a game with watch actions and related YouTube highlights, select the “Selected live & upcoming games” tile. Some games may not be available for streaming but you’ll still receive info on where you can watch it.

Troubleshoot issues watching sports

How to fix playback errors

You’ll get a playback error if you try to watch a game on YouTube TV from a service you haven't purchased or aren't subscribed to. To watch the game you need to:

  1. Go to the YouTube TV store.
  2. Upgrade to the add-on service that carries the game.
