Dehumidifier Maintenance

How to properly maintain and clean your dehumidifier to ensure optimal performance and longevity.

1.    Turn Off and Unplug: Before cleaning, make sure the dehumidifier is turned off and unplugged from the power source.

2.    Remove and Clean the Filter: Remove the air filter air filter from the rear of the unit. Rinse the filter with warm water or gently vacuum it to remove dust and debris. Allow the filter to dry completely before reinserting it into the unit.

3.    Empty the Water Tank: Empty the water bucket it regularly to prevent stagnant water buildup and mold growth. Dispose of the water properly.

4.    Clean the Water Tank: Remove the water tank from the dehumidifier and clean it with warm, soapy water. A mixture of warm water and vinegar can be used as well.  Use a soft brush or sponge to scrub the interior of the tank, especially if there is any residue or mold buildup. Rinse the tank thoroughly with clean water and allow it to air dry completely before reattaching it to the dehumidifier.

5.    Clean the Exterior: Wipe down the exterior surfaces of the dehumidifier with a damp cloth to remove any dust or dirt. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners, as they may damage the unit's finish.

6.    Inspect and Clean the Coils: Carefully inspect them for any dirt or debris buildup. Use a soft brush or vacuum cleaner with a brush attachment to gently clean the coils and remove any accumulated dust or debris.

7.    Check Drainage System: If your dehumidifier has a drainage hose or drain port, ensure that it is clear of any obstructions and functioning properly.

8.    Regular Maintenance: Perform these cleaning tasks regularly to keep your dehumidifier operating efficiently.
